"Colors of the Caribbean"

This is the recent painting I completed of a butterfly fish with coral and a starfish.  I chose this fish because of his colors and stripes.  Needing some pictures of coral found deep beneath the ocean, I went to the library and looked through various books with photos of Caribbean sea life.  It is amazing to me how bright the colors of coral are and the unique fish that swim below the surface.

This isn’t the first painting I have done of scenes deep in the ocean.  A friend of mine has been deep sea diving for many years.  He asked me to paint a deep sea scene from one of his photographs and I was happy to do it.  The shapes of plants, coral and sea creatures are different from anything we see above the sea.  It’s a whole different world down there!
